Princess Kate Launches Early Years Training Partnership to Upskill Health Visitors

The Centre for Early Childhood is partnering with Anna Freud to design a curriculum that equips UK health visitors to strengthen babies’ social and emotional foundations.

Overview

  • On Nov. 27, the Princess of Wales visited the Anna Freud Centre in London to announce a new workforce initiative centered on prevention in the early years.
  • The Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood has commissioned Anna Freud, in partnership with the Institute of Health Visiting, to create a training curriculum for health visitors and early‑years staff.
  • The programme will use the Centre’s Shaping Us framework to help professionals support parent–child relationships and early social and emotional development.
  • During the visit, the Princess met parents and babies, joined expert roundtables with leaders including CEO Eamon McCrory, and focused on relationships as a protective factor against later mental‑health problems.
  • Kensington Palace shared photos and a statement introducing the project, with design work progressing toward piloting and an anticipated launch next year.
