Overview
- On Nov. 10, Princess Beatrice toured Borne’s research laboratories at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London, the site of her younger daughter Athena’s premature birth in January.
- She visited alongside fellow Borne patron Laura Tobin, meeting scientists and clinicians and observing work focused on understanding and preventing preterm birth.
- Borne said the engagement forms part of its campaign ahead of World Prematurity Day on Nov. 17 and aims to accelerate advances for safer pregnancies and healthier births.
- In a statement, Beatrice called the work “incredibly close and personal,” saying the visit gave her hope for expectant mothers and thanking researchers for their progress.
- The appearance was her first since Letters Patent dated Nov. 3 removed Andrew Mountbatten Windsor’s HRH style and princely title, with related measures including surrender of Royal Lodge and Sarah Ferguson ceasing use of the Duchess of York title, while palace guidance indicates Beatrice and Princess Eugenie’s status is unchanged; Beatrice has also kept up recent engagements in Riyadh and with the Outward Bound Trust.
