• Princess Anne revealed the official image at Holyrood on 26 September, joined by Presiding Officer Alison Johnstone.
• The portrait was taken by Millie Pilkington in the Sunken Garden at Balmoral and was created to mark the Parliament’s 25th anniversary.
• King Charles is pictured in his King Charles III tartan kilt holding a handcrafted walking stick gifted by the Mey Highland Games.
• Officials say the picture will hang in the Scottish Parliament’s Main Hall to welcome visitors and highlight the King’s connection to Scotland.
• An earlier portrait of the late Queen, also unveiled by Princess Anne in 2011, is displayed in the same hall.
