Prince William Highlights Youth Ocean Work on North Wales Visit

His return to a familiar coastline spotlighted youth-led conservation alongside grassroots support for young people.

  • On Nov. 25, the Prince of Wales walked Colwyn Bay with the Marine Conservation Society’s Youth Ocean Network to discuss ocean literacy.
  • He met 13- to 25-year-olds involved in the Hiraeth Yn Y Môr project, which raised coastal knowledge in Prestatyn, Rhyl, Kinmel Bay and Towyn before concluding in March 2025.
  • At Youth Shedz in Mochdre, he joined 3D printing and gaming, played pool with members, and viewed the outreach bus known as Betsi.
  • He attended a workshop led by comedian Kiri Pritchard-McLean with Gwneud, Make, Do, hearing how access to arts can be limited in rural coastal areas.
  • Crowds received him warmly with selfies and a hug for Angela Jones of Conwy, and Kensington Palace shared a clip praising local ocean literacy efforts.
