• On June 19, Prince William and Cate Blanchett visited Colorifix’s Norwich facility to learn how its DNA sequencing technique produces natural textile dyes.
• Colorifix reached the 2023 Earthshot Prize finals in the “Build a Waste Free World” category for its nature-inspired dye process.
• By fermenting engineered microbes carrying pigment genes derived from animals, plants or microbes, the company eliminates petrochemicals and slashes water consumption.
• Since 2016, Colorifix has partnered with brands such as H&M, Pangaia and Vollebak to scale its biotechnology-driven dyes.
• The Earthshot Prize, a decade-long initiative launched by Prince William in 2021, awards £1 million to environmental innovators and will hold its next ceremony in Rio de Janeiro in November 2025.
