Overview
- A large male Amur tiger was trapped near the settlement of Klyuchevoy on January 8 after it killed a horse on January 6 in Nadezhdinsky District.
- The animal was transported to the Tiger rehabilitation center in the village of Alekseyevka for veterinary examination and care.
- Specialists from Primorye’s hunting supervision service and the Amur Tiger Center conducted the operation.
- A separate tiger caught on January 4–5 in Verkhny Pereval was deemed healthy and released on January 7 into a remote taiga area with a satellite collar for monitoring.
- Authorities note that such captures address threats when tigers follow ungulates toward settlements and encounter stray dogs, while supporting conservation of an endangered population estimated at about 750 in Russia.
