Overview
- Trade reporting on Friday identified Esther McGregor as Violet Sorrengail and Emilio Sakraya as Xaden Riorson for Prime Video’s adaptation of Rebecca Yarros’s Fourth Wing.
- Meredith Averill remains attached as showrunner and executive producer and Lisa Joy is reported to direct the series premiere and serve as an executive producer.
- The show was greenlit after Amazon MGM secured rights in 2023 and received a series order this summer, but it is still in pre-production with no confirmed filming start or release date.
- Early fan response has focused on physical fidelity to the books, with critics noting height and hair differences while commentators and critics point out that wigs, dye, costuming and performance can change on-screen appearances.
- Producers including Michael B. Jordan’s Outlier Society and Kilter Films back the project and the team has said it will pursue the other books as additional seasons if the series is successful.
