Overview
- The series has cast Esther McGregor as Violet Sorrengail and Emilio Sakraya as Xaden Riorson, a casting reported Oct. 15, 2026 by multiple outlets.
- Meredith Averill remains showrunner and Lisa Joy is set to direct the pilot while Michael B. Jordan’s Outlier Society, Kilter Films and Premeditated Productions serve as lead producers.
- Prime Video officially greenlit the adaptation in May 2026 but has not announced a start-of-filming date or a premiere window for the series.
- Both leads have other current commitments—McGregor is shooting another Prime project and Sakraya is set for One Piece season 3—which could shape the show’s production schedule.
- The casting closes a key chapter for fans tracking representation and fidelity to Rebecca Yarros’ books and could determine whether the streamer pursues multi-season adaptations of the Empyrean novels.
