Overview
- Slovenia’s Domen Prevc led the Oberstdorf qualifier at 139.5 m, with Germany’s Philipp Raimund second at 132.5 m and Austria’s defending champion Daniel Tschofenig third.
- Local favorite Karl Geiger placed 53rd with 106.5 m and will miss the opener, calling his jump a “clean dive into the toilet,” and he says he will try again in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
- Six of nine German starters advanced to Monday’s competition: Raimund, Felix Hoffmann, Pius Paschke, Andreas Wellinger, Constantin Schmid and Luca Roth.
- Ryoyu Kobayashi qualified seventh, and along with World Cup leader Prevc he remains widely viewed as a top contender for the overall Four Hills title.
- The opening event starts today at 16:30 CET in a sold-out Oberstdorf arena, as Germany seeks a first overall Tournee winner since Sven Hannawald in 2002 and with coach Stefan Horngacher in his final season.
