- Domen Prevc won the Vierschanzentournee opener in Oberstdorf with jumps of 141.5 and 140 meters to extend his season-long lead.
- Timi Zajc, initially second, was disqualified after material control found his suit out of spec by three millimetres, promoting Felix Hoffmann to third and Philipp Raimund to fifth.
- Only Hoffmann and Raimund reached the final for Germany, while Andreas Wellinger finished 49th, Pius Paschke was 33rd, and Karl Geiger failed to qualify.
