Prevc Dominates Oberstdorf Opener as Zajc Disqualified and Hoffmann Takes Third

With equipment rules decisive, Germany’s hopes rest on Hoffmann and Raimund for Garmisch.

Overview

  • Domen Prevc won the Vierschanzentournee opener in Oberstdorf with jumps of 141.5 and 140 meters to extend his season-long lead.
  • Timi Zajc, initially second, was disqualified after material control found his suit out of spec by three millimetres, promoting Felix Hoffmann to third and Philipp Raimund to fifth.
  • Only Hoffmann and Raimund reached the final for Germany, while Andreas Wellinger finished 49th, Pius Paschke was 33rd, and Karl Geiger failed to qualify.
  • The Tour continues with qualification in Garmisch-Partenkirchen on December 31 and the New Year’s Day competition on January 1.
  • Separately, the DSV confirmed €3,175 cash prizes for women’s Two-Nights-Tour qualifying winners and moved the New Year’s Eve program so the women jump at 13:00 before the men’s 16:00 qualification.
