Preston Mattingly Promoted to Phillies GM as Sam Fuld Moves to Business Role

Sam Fuld will transition to president of business operations in 2026 after completing his MBA, while Mattingly steps up from assistant GM.

Preston Mattingly, son of former MLB star Don Mattingly, has been promoted to general manager of the Philadelphia Phillies.
Sam Fuld, the current GM, will pursue an MBA at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School and will become president of business operations in May 2026.
Mattingly previously served as the Phillies' assistant general manager and director of player development, joining the organization in 2021.
Luke Murton has been promoted to director of player development, and Edwar Gonzalez to director of hitting development, as part of broader front office changes.
Dave Dombrowski, president of baseball operations, will continue to oversee the Phillies, with Mattingly gaining more responsibility in baseball operations.
