President Murmu Launches '#SkillTheNation' AI Skilling Drive, Confers SOAR Certificates

The initiative seeks to widen SOAR training so AI gains reach marginalised communities through cross-sector support.

Overview

  • Launching the challenge at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre, President Droupadi Murmu framed AI as a major economic opportunity for jobs, productivity and growth.
  • She awarded SOAR certifications to students and Members of Parliament who completed online AI modules.
  • SOAR offers 10–15 hour introductory courses and 30–60 hour programmes covering AI fundamentals, data science, analytics and applied skills.
  • Since July 15, 159,732 participants have enrolled in SOAR courses, with 14,938 learners certified, according to MSDE.
  • Murmu also virtually opened IGNOU’s Regional and Skill Centre in Rairangpur, as officials highlighted collaboration with industry partners such as Microsoft and HCL Tech.
