Overview

• President Droupadi Murmu presided over the Defence Investiture Ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan on May 22, 2025, presenting India’s prestigious peacetime gallantry awards.
• Four of the six Kirti Chakras and seven of the 33 Shaurya Chakras were awarded posthumously, recognizing supreme sacrifices made in the line of duty.
• Awardees were honored for courage in counter-terrorism, counter-insurgency, anti-piracy, firefighting, and internal security operations across Jammu & Kashmir, the North-East, and maritime regions.
• Major Malla Rama Gopal Naidu and Major Manjit received the Kirti Chakra for valor, while Rifleman Ravi Kumar, Colonel Manpreet Singh, Naik Dilwar Khan, and Deputy Superintendent Himayun Muzzammil Bhat were posthumously awarded the same honor.
