- President Droupadi Murmu on September 20 appointed Justice Pavankumar Bhimappa Bajanthri as Chief Justice of the Patna High Court.
- Bajanthri had been serving as Acting Chief Justice following Justice Vipul Manubhai Pancholi’s elevation to the Supreme Court.
- The Supreme Court recently returned to its full sanctioned strength of 34 judges after the appointments of Justices Alok Aradhe and Vipul Pancholi.
- The Law Ministry also notified Advocate Arun Kumar’s appointment to the Allahabad High Court and confirmed three Kerala High Court judges as permanent.
- Bajanthri, 62, previously served on the Karnataka High Court and the Punjab and Haryana High Court and enrolled as an advocate in 1990.
