Preparations Underway for Exhumation of 796 Children’s Remains in Tuam

Experts are securing the former St. Mary’s septic tank site this week to pave the way for July excavations, including DNA sampling to identify the children.

Des recherches ont révélé qu'entre 1925 et 1961, 796 enfants sont morts et auraient été enterrés dans le foyer religieux St Mary des soeurs du Bon Secours. Plus de dix ans après la découverte de ces vestiges, les équipes de fouilles fermeront le site le 16 juin, avant de commencer les travaux le mois suivant pour rechercher des restes.
