Overview
- Wizards of the Coast opened preorders across major retailers and local game stores for play boosters, collector boosters, bundles, scene boxes, jumpstart packs and beginner boxes, with pricing ranging from $6.99 to $109.99.
- First public previews on Aug. 12 detailed four new elemental keywords—airbending, earthbending, firebending and waterbending—tied to flavor and mechanics in cards like Appa, Toph, Zuko and Katara.
- Airbending exiles nonland permanents for a fixed two-mana recast cost; earthbending animates lands into creatures with haste and +1/+1 counters that return as lands when removed.
- Firebending generates red mana equal to a creature’s firebending value when it attacks for spells or activations until end of combat; waterbending lets players tap artifacts and creatures to help pay generic costs.
- The rollout includes an Oct. 28 debut stream, a Nov. 7 full card gallery, prerelease events from Nov. 14–20, an MTG Arena launch on Nov. 18 and a tabletop release on Nov. 21.
