• The jury, led by spokesperson Luz Gabás and including José Manuel Blecua, Juan Eslava Galán, Pere Gimferrer, Eva Giner, Carmen Posadas and Belén López, will deliberate with Blecua and Eslava Galán participating remotely for health reasons.
• The winner will be announced Wednesday in Barcelona with €1,000,000 for the top prize and €200,000 for the runner-up at the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya.
• Jurors say the finalist slate leans toward fantasy, thrillers and novels engaging contemporary issues such as housing, loneliness, communication needs and trauma.
• Submissions came primarily from Spain with 687 entries, followed by South America with 378, North America with 161 and Central America with 41.
• Four finalist manuscripts were submitted under pseudonyms, including three using female names and one using an English male pseudonym.
