Premier League Spending Soars as Bundesliga’s Overseas Revenues Stall

Fresh DFL figures show overseas income flat for 2025/26, highlighting growing pressure from England’s money-fueled market.

Overview

  • The Premier League set a summer record with more than €3.56 billion spent on transfers, exceeding the combined outlay of Serie A, the Bundesliga, La Liga and Ligue 1, while posting a record net deficit versus €2.04 billion in sales.
  • Liverpool alone invested about €483 million, including major fees for Alexander Isak (about €144–150 million) and Florian Wirtz (€125 million).
  • Bundesliga clubs recorded a spending record of roughly €856 million but brought in around €1.03 billion in fees, with about €600 million flowing from Premier League purchases.
  • According to dpa, the Bundesliga’s foreign TV income holds at roughly €218 million for 2025/26, with total international revenues near €302 million after late-rights deals in markets such as the UK and Japan.
  • Domestic TV revenue rises about 2% to €1.121 billion per season, as DFL chief Steffen Merkel says the league increasingly occupies a challenger role in many international markets.
