Overview

  • The PLL outfitted a Chicago River boat with netted, 42-by-17-foot turf to host its first-ever moving 3-on-3 lacrosse exhibition.
  • Eleven professionals from the Premier Lacrosse League and Women’s Lacrosse League, including Sydni Black and Kylie Ohlmiller, competed in condensed matchups over nearly three hours.
  • Officials enforced adapted rules by using softer swax balls for safer play and awarding lost points any time a ball fell into the river.
  • Whirlpool co-hosted the event to honor Chicago’s iconic river cruises and support the league’s goal of making lacrosse more accessible to young players.
  • The river event kicks off the Chicago Weekend series and will continue with full-team matchups at Northwestern Medicine Field through Saturday, July 12.
