Yaroslav Askarov, the Nashville Predators' goaltender, secured his first NHL win in a 3-2 shootout victory over the Washington Capitals, ending the Predators' three-game losing streak.
Askarov made 26 saves in regulation and overtime and two more in the shootout against fellow Russians Evgeny Kuznetsov and Alex Ovechkin.
Roman Josi scored his 166th goal, tying Shea Weber for the most by a defenseman in the Predators' history.
Alex Ovechkin scored his 829th goal, putting him 65 back of Wayne Gretzky’s career record.
The Capitals have lost four in a row and remain one of the worst offensive teams in the league.
