Pre-Diwali Food-Safety Raids Yield Major Seizures in Lucknow, Chandigarh and Indore

Laboratory testing is underway, with legal action to follow.

  • Lucknow’s FSDA said a month-long crackdown produced more than ₹1 crore in adulterated goods seized and destroyed after 29 raids and 144 inspections.
  • Officials there reported ₹51.21 lakh seized in the past four days, destruction of 4,363 kg of substandard items valued at ₹9.94 lakh, and 84 samples sent for analysis.
  • Chandigarh’s Food Safety Department collected 26 regulatory and 25 surveillance samples of paneer, khoya and other sweets and issued nine challans for non-compliance.
  • In Indore, authorities seized 2,754 kg of Rajwadi sweets worth ₹6.90 lakh at Ahuja Milk Product over labelling lapses and an absent proprietary food licence, with samples dispatched to the Bhopal lab.
  • Agencies said surprise checks will continue through the festival period and that prosecutions will be based on lab reports, while consumers are being urged to report concerns via FSSAI channels.
