Prado VR Exhibition ‘Art Masters’ Opens in Buenos Aires on Sept. 4

The Prado provides curatorial control for a game-like immersive tour blending scholarship with new technology.

Overview

  • The itinerant Art Masters experience runs Sept. 4–Oct. 1 at Pabellón Frers, La Rural in Palermo, open Tuesday–Friday 12:00–20:00 and weekends/holidays 10:00–20:00, with Mondays closed.
  • Tickets are sold via La Rural Ticket and the on-site box office, with prices Tuesday–Thursday at ARS 30,000 for adults, ARS 20,000 for under 14s and ARS 75,000 for a family pack, and Friday–Sunday/holidays at ARS 40,000, ARS 30,000 and ARS 90,000 respectively.
  • Visitors move through a four-part flow featuring a physical introduction, multiuser immersive VR, an interactive closing gallery and a photo area with gift shop.
  • A virtual guard named Teo guides half-hour journeys inside five works selected for the show: The Sense of Sight, Las Meninas, Venus and Adonis, Witches’ Sabbath and The Garden of Earthly Delights.
  • The project carries curatorial supervision by Alejandro Vergara of the Museo Nacional del Prado, with accessibility for people with reduced mobility and health guidance that advises against participation for those with epilepsy, requires adult supervision for children under 8 and asks that phones be set to airplane mode.
