Overview
- Following a record 3.5 million visitors in 2025, the Prado announced a 2026 lineup structured around three axes: queens of Spain, new geographies, and the institution itself.
- A la manera de Italia, España y el gótico mediterráneo runs May 26–Sept 20, bringing about 100 international loans mainly from Europe and the United States.
- Prado. Siglo XXI opens June 9–Sept 27, surveying the museum’s recent transformation, including more than 13,200 acquisitions and expansion to 77,158 square meters.
- Further highlights include Hans Baldung Grien (Nov 24–Mar 7, 2027) and Mariana de Austria (Dec 1–Mar 28, 2027), extending the queens-focused strand.
- The museum continues the reordering of its 18th‑century galleries begun in 2025 and will tour La botánica en el arte with CaixaForum in Girona (Mar 24–Aug 23) and Lleida (Sept 23–Jan 26, 2027).
