Overview
- Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan held a detailed meeting with senior officials of SBI, Bank of Baroda, Canara Bank and Indian Bank on Tuesday to push immediate upgrades to the CBSE payment system.
- Pradhan instructed the banks to implement stronger payment protocols, faster grievance handling and automatic refunds for failed or duplicate transactions to protect students using re-evaluation and answer-sheet services.
- A four-member technical team from IIT-Madras and IIT-Kanpur has begun auditing the CBSE portal code and architecture, and institute officials said the portal had been stable for more than 72 hours prior to the audit.
- Planned technical measures include bank-side protocol hardening, real-time transaction monitoring, automated refund flows and coordinated testing with CBSE to prevent payment dropouts during high-volume windows.
- Officials warned that full fixes require coordinated bank-CBSE integration, end-to-end testing and phased rollouts so students should expect progressive improvements rather than an immediate, system-wide resolution.
