Overview
- Pradhan told Parliament that GPIL allocations are provided according to assessed requirement and utilisation rather than favouring any particular language.
- The Centre allotted Rs 308.44 crore in 2024-25 to Kendriya Hindi Sansthan, MSRVVP, CICT, NCPSL and NCPUL for promoting Hindi, Veda, Classical Tamil, Sindhi and Urdu.
- Minister of State Jayant Chaudhary reported that NCERT has translated core textbooks in subjects such as science, mathematics and social studies into 22 Indian languages plus English.
- The UGC-Bharatiya Bhasha Samiti ASMITA project has identified 23 nodal universities, proposed 759 books and 1,089 authors with a target of producing 1,000 textbooks in each of 22 languages.
- The Bharatiya Bhasha Pustak Scheme announced in the Union Budget 2025-26 will deliver digital textbooks in Indian languages for school and higher education.
