PP Presses for Answers After UCO Finds Note Naming Begoña Gómez in Madrid Prosecutor’s Agenda

The annotation predates the complaint against Gómez with no public evidence of a meeting.

Overview

  • Guardia Civil’s UCO found a handwritten post-it in chief prosecutor María Pilar Rodríguez’s agenda reading “restaurante Manuel Becerra” with “Begoña Gómez” on a page dated March 11–13, 2024.
  • During an October 30, 2024 office search linked to the case involving attorney general Álvaro García Ortiz, Rodríguez told agents the entries were unrelated reminders: a restaurant fire case update and a request to be informed about any procedure involving Gómez.
  • The Partido Popular demanded the immediate appearance of Justice Minister Félix Bolaños to clarify whether there were contacts or confidential guidance, even alleging the prosecutor might have given Gómez “pautas para que no la pillasen.”
  • Gómez’s defense said she does not know Rodríguez and did not dine with her, and prosecutorial sources noted the prosecutor often used sticky notes for routine tasks.
  • The Madrid prosecutor’s office has sought to archive the case against Gómez for lack of indicios delictivos, and Rodríguez was later exonerated in the Ortiz-related inquiry in which her agenda was seized.
