- JMA recorded tsunami waves between 20 and 70 cm at multiple ports, including about 70 cm at Kuji in Iwate.
- Around 90,000 residents were urged to evacuate or seek shelter as the government activated an emergency task force led by Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi.
