Overview

  • A team of 25 Korean engineers from K-Ensol has arrived in Sagunt to install the clean and dry rooms, which maintain a fixed temperature of 21 °C and 1% humidity until battery cells are fully sealed.
  • Over 250 workers are on site and the first Standard Factory Block’s buildings are nearing enclosure as PowerCo targets phase-one completion by year’s end.
  • Phase one represents a €1.7 billion investment to replicate Volkswagen’s Salzgitter methods, aiming for up to 60 GWh capacity with a 50% reduction in construction time and a 30% cut in energy use.
  • PowerCo plans to expand its workforce to more than 1,500 employees by 2027 and to open a Battery Campus that will train local and European talent in advanced cell manufacturing.
  • When all three phases conclude in 2028, the 1.29 million m² site—equivalent to 260 football fields—will support 3,000 direct jobs and strengthen Valencia’s role in the EU battery supply chain.
