Overview
- CFE reported full service restoration around midnight after an afternoon outage on September 26 cut electricity across Yucatán, Campeche and Quintana Roo.
- The incident removed roughly 2,174 MW from the system and affected about 2.26 million users when nine generating centers with 16 units went out of operation.
- CFE’s operations chief said two 230 kV lines between Tabasco Potencia and Escárcega tripped and a standard reclose attempt then triggered two 400 kV lines to trip.
- CFE, CENACE and SENER re-energized 230 kV and 400 kV corridors, with phased returns reported in Mérida, Valladolid, Chetumal, Bacalar, Holbox and much of Campeche.
- Traffic signals failed and telecom services faltered during the outage, while hospitals and tourist facilities relied on backup generation as officials initiated a root-cause analysis.
