- JR East’s Yamagata branch is investigating the cause of the power failure.
- The Yamagata Shinkansen uses the Ou Line corridor, so the electrical fault halted both regional and high-speed services.
- In a separate incident, Tohoku Shinkansen Yamabiko 134 stopped at Ueno around 12:20 p.m. because of a passenger dispute and resumed about 20 minutes later.
