Power Hit in Occupied Donetsk for Second Night as Drones Pound Dnipro Media and Rail

Kremlin-backed officials say about 65% of customers lost electricity after strikes on the Zuivska and Starobesheve thermal plants.

Overview

  • Denis Pushilin, the Moscow-installed head of Donetsk, reported overnight hits on the Zuivska and Starobesheve stations that forced boiler houses and water filtration plants offline and prompted school restrictions.
  • Video circulating on Russian Telegram channels showed a large blast at the Zuivska plant; Ukraine has not publicly claimed responsibility for the attacks.
  • A large drone assault on Dnipro badly damaged the Suspilne regional newsroom and a radio facility, blew out windows and ignited multiple fires, with two people hospitalized, regional authorities said.
  • Ukrzaliznytsia said a suburban train depot in Dnipro was struck for the second time, causing delays before services were restored using reserve diesel locomotives and repairs at the station.
  • Separately, the Kharkiv governor said a 17-year-old girl died after a missile strike in Berestyn, as Ukraine’s General Staff reported three missile strikes, 61 airstrikes and extensive drone and artillery attacks on Nov. 17.
