Overview
- A power fault at about 8:50 am on July 3 stopped services across all 13 Bukit Panjang LRT stations until restoration at around 11:40 am.
- SMRT provided free regular and bridging bus services while on-site staff made in-train and station announcements to keep passengers informed.
- This outage was the network’s second major disruption this week following a signalling fault on the Thomson–East Coast Line on July 1.
- The 8 km automated line linking Bukit Panjang and Choa Chu Kang to the North-South and Downtown MRT lines has faced recurring reliability challenges.
- LTA and SMRT have extended early service closures through October 2025 to facilitate signalling upgrades and vehicle retrofits under a renewal programme now due by end-2026.
