Power Division Clears 11,695 Net‑Metering Applications

PITC will contact customers directly to curb intermediaries and ensure rules are enforced as leftover cases are vetted

Overview

  • The Power Division announced on Saturday that 11,695 pending net‑metering applications have been verified and found compliant after a targeted validation drive ordered by Federal Minister Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari.
  • The backlog began during the policy shift from net metering to a net‑billing system when 16,654 applications were left pending and officials launched a priority review to resolve those cases.
  • Pakistan Information Technology Company (PITC) has begun direct digital outreach by SMS, WhatsApp and other channels and set up an online portal at nmverification.pitc.com.pk so consumers can check status without using agents.
  • The Power Division warned consumers not to pay intermediaries, saying no fees are required for expedited processing and that each remaining application will be checked against official records and NEPRA clarifications to prevent fraud.
  • With 4,959 applications still under verification, the ministry says the remaining cases will be fast‑tracked to deliver lawful solar credits, protect consumer rights and support the government’s broader solarisation goals.
