The series, set in the early 1990s, is a prequel to the original 'Power' series and follows the story of a young Kanan Stark, played by Mekai Curtis, and his entry into the criminal world through his mother, Raquel 'Raq' Thomas, played by Patina Miller.
Sascha Penn will return as the showrunner and executive producer for the new season, alongside 'Power' creator Courtney A. Kemp, Curtis '50 Cent' Jackson, and Mark Canton.
Starz president of original programming, Kathryn Busby, expressed excitement about continuing Kanan Stark's story, stating that fans will demand more after viewing the upcoming third season.
