Poundland Starts ‘Everything Must Go’ Sales at 10 Stores as Next Closures Loom

The lease-driven downsizing follows the £1 sale to a Gordon Brothers unit, targeting a smaller estate after dozens of shutdowns.

Overview

  • Clearance events with discounts of up to 40% are running across multiple departments as stock is sold through before stores shut.
  • Hailsham and Perry Barr are due to close on November 2, with Loughborough, New Malden, Dalston and Beeston also scheduled to exit in November.
  • Further dated closures include Melton Mowbray on December 4, Droitwich on December 9, Hempstead Valley on December 31 and Bexhill on January 5, 2026.
  • Poundland had closed 57 stores by September 28 and placed 11 planned closures on hold pending lease talks and trading reviews.
  • The company says it expects to operate about 650–700 UK shops once the programme to close up to 68 sites is completed.
