Overview
- Six branches closed on September 28 — Havant, Newport, Ripley, Swanley, Uttoxeter and Partick — taking total shutdowns to about 58 so far in the restructuring.
- Further closures are scheduled, including Liscard on October 1, Market Harborough on October 9, Lowestoft on October 10, Livingston on October 12, Tenby on October 18 and Carlisle on November 9.
- Eleven stores previously earmarked for closure have been spared or reopened after landlord and creditor arrangements, with Irvine, Brighton, Anniesland and Whitby among those staying open.
- The simplified pricing now sets most grocery lines at three points — £1, £2 and £3 — with roughly 60% at £1 as Poundland retires online transactions and its Perks loyalty app.
- High Court approval in August unlocked the turnaround plan following Gordon Brothers’ £1 takeover in June, with the programme still targeting around 68 store exits and two warehouse closures into 2026.
