Overview

• Ewan Methven stabbed 21-year-old Phoenix Spencer-Horn 20 times before mutilating and severing her head at their East Kilbride flat on November 16, 2024.
• After the killing, Methven used her phone to text her mother pretending to be Phoenix and spent the weekend driving her car, searching for pornography and attempting to buy cocaine.
• Two days later he dialled 999 claiming a drug-induced psychotic episode and confessed to killing his girlfriend, prompting police to discover her mutilated body.
• On June 17, Methven pleaded guilty to murder and attempting to defeat the ends of justice at the High Court in Glasgow.
