Postal Strike Disrupts Calgary Election Mail as Elections Calgary Rolls Out Workarounds

Voters may use courier delivery or in‑person pickup for mail‑in ballots, with fresh voter guides arriving via non‑postal flyers on Oct. 2.

Overview

  • Only a portion of households received voter information cards during the Sept. 22 delivery window before service was suspended.
  • Elections Calgary is working with Canada Post to pinpoint undelivered addresses and maintain voter access.
  • Mail‑in ballot packages can be sent by courier on request, with return courier costs to the requester, or picked up at the Deerfoot Junction III mail‑in ballot office (Suite 101, 1212 31 Ave. NE).
  • Fresh voter guides will go out Oct. 2 via a non‑postal flyer service and will be available at select transit stops, libraries, hospitals, and community locations.
  • Advance voting runs Oct. 6–11 with Election Day on Oct. 20, and voters do not need a voter information card but must bring one piece of authorized ID and meet eligibility rules.
