Post Office Scandal Highlighted at Brit Awards

Victim uses award show platform to demand faster compensation for those affected by the Horizon IT system.

Jo Hamilton, a victim of the Post Office Horizon scandal, used her appearance at the Brit Awards to call for faster compensation for those wrongfully prosecuted.
Hamilton was wrongly accused of stealing £36,000 from the Post Office and was prosecuted in 2006. Her conviction was overturned in 2021.
More than 900 post office operators were prosecuted due to incorrect accounting information from the Horizon IT system.
Former Post Office chair Henry Staunton called for the compensation process to be removed from the company and for a hard deadline for victim compensation.
The government has been accused of not owning up to their failings in the scandal and not adequately compensating the postmasters.
