Overview

  • On the evening of June 6, a Ford Mondeo carrying John, 66, and Lynn King, 67, veered off Alum Bay New Road near The Needles and plunged 300ft into the sea.
  • The couple’s two Dachshunds were also in the car and did not survive the fall.
  • Neighbours report that John, a Southern Vectis bus driver, served as his wife’s full-time carer after she became too frail to leave their home.
  • Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary have completed searches of the Kings’ Cowes residence as part of the ongoing investigation.
  • A post-mortem examination is scheduled for June 10 to establish the circumstances leading to the vehicle’s cliffside plunge.
