  • The Australia Critical Minerals R&D Lab began operations on May 30 in Perth to develop cost-efficient low-carbon steelmaking and lithium-nickel processing technologies.
  • It will pursue rare earth supply chain development and high-efficiency refining techniques to bolster essential mineral processing capabilities.
  • The center will collaborate with Curtin University, CSIRO, MRIWA and resource firms including BHP, Rio Tinto, Hancock Prospecting and Pilbara Minerals.
  • Posco plans to tap its Australian networks to explore and invest in high-quality mine ventures and broaden its global raw material pipeline.
  • A 1.6 trillion won rights offering announced on May 13 will fund expansion of battery materials production, including overseas cathode plants and domestic facilities.
