Overview

• Artists are invited to submit proposals by Oct. 24 for artwork tied to the Portwood Pier Plaza splash pad in Imperial Beach.
• Eligibility covers San Diego, Imperial, Orange and Riverside counties, with Imperial Beach residents strongly encouraged to apply.
• The selected artist or team will receive up to $20,000 to design and produce work for an outdoor perforated metal mechanical enclosure.
• Design and permitting remain in progress, and port leaders anticipate starting construction in early 2026 and finishing in late 2026.
• The splash pad forms part of ongoing efforts by the port and city to activate and beautify the Imperial Beach Pier and adjacent plaza.
