Poppy Playtime Developer Sues Google Over Counterfeit Apps

Mob Entertainment alleges Google's inaction has enabled scam versions of its popular horror game to profit off its intellectual property and deceive consumers.

  • Mob Entertainment has filed a lawsuit against Google, claiming the tech giant failed to remove counterfeit versions of its Poppy Playtime games from the Google Play store.
  • The unauthorized games, titled 'Poppy Playtime Chapter 3' and 'Poppy Playtime Chapter 4', use Mob Entertainment's trademarks and copyrighted material without permission.
  • These counterfeit apps, developed by Daigo Game 2020 Inc, reportedly mislead users into spending up to $95 for access to content that leads to a dead URL.
  • Despite multiple DMCA takedown requests and temporary removals in December 2024, the fake apps were relisted on the Google Play store and remain available for download.
  • Mob Entertainment is seeking damages of at least $150,000 per infringement and an injunction to prevent further unauthorized use of its intellectual property.
