Overview
- The Holy See has confirmed a six-day apostolic trip to Peru from November 11 to November 16 with stops in Lima, Chiclayo, Cajamarca, Cusco and Pucallpa.
- Local authorities released detailed entry rules for the Pampas de Pimentel Mass, saying preassigned, QR‑managed groups will begin entering from the evening of November 12 and that gates close at 8:00 a.m. on November 13 ahead of the roughly 10:30 a.m. service.
- Organizers are planning for very large crowds, with estimates of about 950,000–1,000,000 for Pimentel and up to 1.2 million for the farewell Mass at Las Palmas, shaping transport, health and security deployments.
- Security planning has been intensified because of rising violent crime, with national police, the armed forces, intelligence services, prosecutors and local governments coordinating protection for the pope and attendees.
- Health clearance from the Vatican followed the pope’s October surgery and a Vatican advance team has been inspecting venues while Peru’s health and disaster agencies prepare a large medical response including hundreds of ambulances, field clinics and hydration points.
