Pope Francis Returns to Public Duties, Addresses Tragedies Following Surgery Recovery

Pope Francis resumed his Sunday greeting in St. Peter's Square after being discharged from the hospital where he underwent abdominal surgery.
He expressed gratitude for the support he received during his hospitalization and recovery.
He prayed for the victims of a shipwreck off Greece, an attack in Uganda, and conflict in Ukraine.
Though still recovering, Francis will meet with Brazil's president and travel to Portugal and Mongolia in August.
Doctors have urged the pope to limit activities as he regains strength following the removal of scarring around his intestines.
