Pontiac Couple Found Dead in Apparent Murder–Suicide, Officials Say

Investigators report the deaths followed an argument in a decade-long relationship.

Overview

  • Latrece Shanna Harper, 33, was found around 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 30 on a couch in her Pontiac home with a single gunshot wound to the head.
  • About 15 minutes later, Clifford Torrell Noel Jr., 41, was located slumped over in a car on Square Lake Road near Telegraph in Bloomfield Township with a self-inflicted wound fired from an AR-15–style rifle.
  • Noel was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to authorities.
  • Five children who lived with the couple, ages roughly 4 to 15, were not at the home and were later found unharmed at a Rochester Hills motel.
  • Child Protective Services arranged placement for the children, and the sheriff urged anyone in abusive relationships to seek help, with hotlines and crisis resources shared.
