Pontiac Couple Found Dead in Apparent Murder-Suicide After Reported Argument

Authorities report five children were located unharmed, with CPS arranging placement.

Overview

  • The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office identified the deceased as Latrece Shanna Harper, 33, and her longtime partner, Clifford Torrell Noel Jr., 41.
  • Harper was found around 7:30 p.m. Oct. 30 in her Pontiac home with a single gunshot wound to the head discovered by her stepdaughter.
  • About 15 minutes later, Noel was found in a car on Square Lake Road near Telegraph Road in Bloomfield Township with a self-inflicted gunshot from an AR-15–style rifle and was pronounced dead at a hospital.
  • Investigators say the couple had been together for about a decade and believe the incident followed an argument.
  • Five children ages 4 to 15 who lived with the couple were later found uninjured at a Rochester Hills motel, and officials highlighted domestic-violence and crisis resources as the investigation continues.
