Overview

• On August 13, Naftali Bennett accused Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, his ministers and family of a coordinated campaign to humiliate IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir after he issued enlistment orders for tens of thousands of Haredi youths.
• During an August 14 ceremony at Camp Dayan, Zamir called for mutual trust and full cooperation between political and military leaders, warning that unity is key to battlefield success.
• The chief of staff remains in an unresolved dispute with Defense Minister Israel Katz over control of the upcoming round of senior IDF appointments.
• Israel Railways reported on August 15 that damaged electrification cables—apparently struck by a freight train—have suspended service between Binyamina and Netanya and between Tel Aviv Hagana and Lod/Ben Gurion Airport.
