Police Use Taser to Detain Teenager in Vandalism Incident at Former Potsdam Parliament

Six teenagers were apprehended after breaking into the abandoned 'Kreml' building, with one requiring a Taser to be subdued.

The incident occurred Saturday evening when a witness reported teenagers entering the former Brandenburg state parliament building in Potsdam, known as the 'Kreml.'
Police found evidence of vandalism, including sounds of breaking glass, and detained six teenagers aged 14 to 15 on-site.
A 14-year-old attempted to flee and was subdued using a Taser after ignoring repeated police commands; he was later handed over to his guardians after a medical check.
The building, which has been vacant for years, has a history of vandalism and suffered significant fire damage in August 2023, destroying its roof and plenary hall.
The site, once a DDR-era political hub, remains in disrepair, and redevelopment plans by its private owner have stalled since its sale in 2015.
