Police uncover partial remains at Glanbrook Landfill in Shalini Singh investigation

The coroner’s office alongside forensic labs have begun DNA analysis to advance the months-long probe

Overview

  • Investigators excavated approximately 5,000 cubic metres of waste in a targeted search that led to the discovery of partial human remains on May 21
  • Police began searching the Glanbrook Landfill in late February after evidence suggested Singh was killed in her Hamilton apartment and disposed of through the garbage system
  • The landfill operation was extended beyond its original April 18 end date as teams continued to sift through waste for any trace of Singh
  • Shalini Singh’s family has been informed of the discovery and is receiving support from Hamilton Police victim services while they await DNA results
